Rene Fijten

Finally, my drawngs of the sketchcrawl event.
As the weather became better, and I made this painting of the yearly Spring market in the centre of Heerlen while kneeling on the ground. My daughter told me afterwards that I attracted a large crowd behind me. But I can tell you I didn't notice it at all, far too concentrated on drawing&painting. Watercoour on Schut 300 gram paper 24x30cm.

Two more sketches, I made these inside the Glaspaleis, during the rain.

Papier rol

Luc Peeters made these beautiful drawings on a large continuous paperroll, using oilpastels in fine colours.

Esther

The results of Esther. She made these beautiful drawings of the market. There was a cook preparing  something (I never got around to check what he was making). People were eating merrily and drinking wine. so it must have been good.
Esther also has a nice blog with more drawings and paintings, see  http://www.estherdebont.nl/.

Florence

Another visitor from abroad: Florence from Castres, which is very, very, very south of France.
Fortunately she was in the neighbourhood, and joined our sketchcrawl. Here are her sketches of market vendors and... other sketchers!

You can find more beautiful drawings on her blog: http://lagaleriedeflo.wordpress.com/

Alma and Nico

These  are the drawings of Nico and is daughter Alma. Nico was co-organiser of this sketchcrawling event, and he convinced his daughter to join him. She made one of the most original contributions to the crawl: Bert and Ernie. These puppets were sitting on the windowsill of the large windowpanes of the Glaspaleis; and as we could not go outside because of the horrible weather, she decided that they were a fitting subject for a nice drawing. Here is your proof that there is always something interesting to draw.

Nico also made a drawing of the old Royal movie theater, one of the oldest surviving movie theaters in the Netherlands.

Glenis

Here we show the drawings of Glenis, who came all the way from Bonn, Germany, to join us.
Some of the drawings are made from the first floor and show the market from above, some were made in the café of the Glaspaleis, and others on the street during the market.

Tineke

Tineke wrote a nice article about the sketchcrawl on her blog: http://tinekelemmens.blogspot.com/
Here a part of her text:
"... In The Netherlands there was a SketchCrawl in three cities: Gouda, Schiedam and Heerlen. I joined this last one. It looked like a fine day when I left home, but once my train left, a hail storm broke loose. In Heerlen, it rained plenty. So we had to start our SketchCrawl in the public library and coffeecorner at Schunck. Pretty funny, all these 'SketchCrawlers' drawing each other...
Eventually we did get some sunshine so we could finally go outside and draw the annual market. Here are some results of this fun day.
